ADAMINABY PARK

Public BBQ

The Big Trout stands majestically in Adaminaby, an impressive 10-meter sculpture that's impossible to miss from the Snowy Mountains Highway. This vibrant rainbow-colored landmark anchors a small park with clean public facilities and picnic tables. The sleepy town offers convenient amenities including a highly-regarded cafe across the road serving excellent coffee and fresh food, plus a nearby bakery famous for fantastic pies. Well-maintained restrooms feature modern soap dispensers, making it an ideal rest stop for travelers heading to the snow fields. The sculpture honors the area's rich trout fishing heritage and connection to the Snowy Hydro Scheme. Free parking and local shops provide everything needed for a comfortable break, while the detailed craftsmanship makes it a popular photo destination for tourists exploring Australia's iconic "big things."
